Cam Skattebo Is a Pro Wrestler Who Accidentally Plays Running Back [The Official Superstar Profile]
A monster truck entrance, two backflips, a shove at Madison Square Garden and a nickname borrowed from Ric Flair. We built the Giants running back the profile he has been auditioning for since high school. Every move is real. We checked.
Cam Skattebo’s high school nickname was the Nature Boy, after Ric Flair. He grew up watching WWE, and he has spent the last two years acting like a man who knows the cameras are on. He arrived for the opener in a truck on oversized tires. He backflips in end zones. He has been in a brawl on Monday Night Raw. He predicted a “slogfest” and then got one.
So we gave him what every superstar gets: a ring introduction, a list of signature moves with a crowd-pop meter, the championship gold and a feud table. Open any “Real or kayfabe?” tab to see the receipt. Spoiler: it is all real.
Signature Moves
The crowd-pop meter is completely made up. The moves are not.
Most running backs score and hand the ball to the official. Skattebo scores and leaves the ground. He landed one after a two-point conversion in a 21-18 win over the Chargers as a rookie, prompting tackle Andrew Thomas to say “He brings that juice to our offense.”
Then he announced the sequel in advance. “I’ve been saying it for about a month now, I’m gonna do a backflip when I score my first touchdown,” he said, and in Week 1 of 2026 he scored against Dallas and flipped. He has since promised to retire it from everyday use: “Make up something else now, and try to give the kids something else to do.”
Real or kayfabe?
Wrestlers get pyro. Skattebo arrived for the season opener in a truck with oversized tires, wearing his quarterback Jaxson Dart’s high school jersey, at 5:50 p.m. for an 8:20 kickoff. Fans yelled his name. He waved.
Asked about it afterward, he cut the promo himself: “Whatever car I’m in, they know who it is.” Then, in case anyone took it too seriously: “It was just all fun and games.”
Real or kayfabe?
Before he was a Giant, he was a Sacramento State Hornet with a highlight nobody has been able to explain since. He returned an onside kick for a touchdown and, per his own record, covered the last five yards running backward while being tackled.
That season he ran for 1,372 yards, was named Big Sky Offensive Player of the Year and made the FCS All-America team. Nobody has asked him to explain the backward part, which is the correct decision.
Real or kayfabe?
This is the one where it stopped being a bit. On Monday Night Raw at Madison Square Garden, Dominik Mysterio mocked New York’s sports drought, JD McDonagh got in Skattebo’s face, and Skattebo shoved him to the ground. Teammates, wrestlers and comedian Andrew Schulz piled in until security broke it up.
Some people did not love a rehabbing running back getting into it with The Judgment Day. His reply, roughly: if you do not like him having a good time during a tough stretch, you are free to unfollow. Very much a babyface response.
Real or kayfabe?
Every great wrestler takes a bump. Skattebo’s came at Fanatics Fest, the summer fan convention, when he tried a backflip, missed the landing and ended up on video, on the floor, and all over social media.
He laughed it off and did not look rattled. Two months later he stuck the landing in the end zone against Dallas, which is the most wrestling redemption arc available to a running back.
Real or kayfabe?
Great talkers sell the match before it happens. With a sore shoulder before the trip to Washington, Skattebo told reporters to “just give me the ball and we’ll be fine” and called the game a “slogfest.”
It rained. Nobody won. The Giants and Commanders finished 27-27 after overtime, and Skattebo played through the shoulder for 71 yards from scrimmage. You cannot call a slogfest more accurately than that.
Real or kayfabe?
Every superstar needs a look, and not every look gets a good reaction. His opening-week pregame outfit drew a wave of roasts online, including one fan who said he looked like he “listens to music aloud on his phone at the bus stop” and another who went with “high school bully.”
In wrestling, that is called heat, and heat is good business. Whatever anyone thought of the Cam Skattebo outfit, he changed into the uniform and scored the opening touchdown.
Real or kayfabe?
The Championship Gold
The Peach Bowl belt is the best one. Skattebo was named the game’s Offensive MVP even though Arizona State lost to Texas, which per his record had not happened to a player on the losing team in 26 years. Wrestling has a phrase for that: losing the match and winning the crowd.
The Feud Table
| Opponent | Record | The story |
|---|---|---|
| Gravity | 2-1 | Landed backflips in games in 2025 and 2026. Lost the Fanatics Fest match in July. |
| The Judgment Day | No contest | Shoved JD McDonagh at Madison Square Garden. Security stopped it. |
| Philadelphia Eagles | Big win | Three rushing touchdowns on Thursday Night Football in 2025. |
| Washington Commanders | Draw | 27-27 in the rain, the exact slogfest he advertised. |
| Dallas Cowboys | 1-0 in 2026 | Opening touchdown and a backflip in a 28-20 win. |
| Internet fashion critics | Ongoing | Still talking about the Week 1 outfit. |
The Tale of the Tape
| Season | Rushing | Receiving | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026, 5 games | 81 carries, 294 yards, 1 TD | 10 catches, 79 yards | Giants are 3-1-1 |
| 2025, 8 games | 410 yards, 5 TD | 24 catches, 207 yards, 2 TD | Rookie season ended by an ankle injury in Week 8 |
| 2024, Arizona State | School single-season record | First-team All-American | |
| 2022, Sacramento State | 1,372 yards, 7 TD | Plus the backwards onside return |
The numbers are the part the act sometimes hides. As a rookie he scored seven touchdowns in eight games before a dislocated ankle in Week 8 ended his season, including three on a Thursday night against Philadelphia in a 34-17 win. Listed at 5-foot-11 and 215 pounds, he is back as the Giants’ lead back in 2026, with 81 carries for 294 yards and 10 catches through five weeks, on a team sitting alone in first place in the NFC East.
Cam Skattebo has a nickname from Ric Flair, an entrance on monster truck tires, a backflip finisher, a feud with gravity, a shove at Madison Square Garden and a Peach Bowl MVP he won while losing. He also has 373 yards from scrimmage this season for a Giants team that is 3-1-1. Most running backs play football. This one is running a storyline, and the ratings are up.
Every wrestler has a merch table, and the Cam Skattebo shirt in the Skattebo collection at Planet Euphoria is hand-drawn art, not a name-and-number print, hand-printed to order in Schenectady, New York and numbered out of 500.
